Face Mask Offers

Wearing a protective face mask which filters the virus out of the air you breathe is one of the two best ways to protect yourself from Covid (the other is being fully vaccinated). BuDS has managed to secure an exclusive discount for disabled and clinically vulnerable people from Cambridge Masks Co, one of our key partners.

Why Wear a Protective Face Mask?

Unlike simple cloth or surgical masks, protective face masks give YOU a high level of protection against breathing in the Covid-19 and other airborne viruses. They do this by filtering the air you breathe through the layers of the mask, so that nearly all the virus particles are trapped and prevented from entering your body.

Protective face masks must be tested and certified by Governments before being sold. The two main standards are FFP (Filtering Face Piece) standards used in the UK and EU, and the NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) used in the United States. The World Health Organisation recommend that members of the public use FFP2 or KN95 face masks for personal protection against Covid-19. Both FFP2 and KN95 masks offer similar levels of protection.

While PPE masks hugely reduce the risk of catching Covid, they do not remove all the danger. A small amount of virus can still get through the mask, especially if you are in a place where there is a lot of virus in the air. So, avoiding crowded places and social distancing is still important. It’s also important to fit the mask properly, making sure there is an airtight seal on your face, so that the air is filtered correctly.
