Back in the Saddle – Update 29

I have finally done it!  After 528 days I have finally completed my exercise bike challenge.  I have now pedalled the equivalent distance of the entire Land’s End to John o’Groats route.

It has taken me far longer than I could ever have envisaged.  I thought it would take me about a year.  However, due to various health setbacks, things didn’t go quite to plan and so it has actually taken me just under 1.5 years!  But I did it!  And, despite all the setbacks and some days when it was incredibly hard to do anything at all, I did not miss a single day!

I think the shortest distance I managed in a day was 0.25km.  I just had to keep telling myself that the daily distances didn’t matter and that every turn of the pedals would get me to my goal eventually.  And so, through determination, stubbornness and perseverance, I did finally attain my goal and finish my mad cap challenge.

I would once again like to thank everyone for all the support and encouragement you have given me.  It has meant so much to me to know that you are all rooting for me.  The supportive messages you have sent me have really helped to keep me going, so thank you, thank you, thank you.

I would also like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has already sponsored me. As I think you know, I am doing this challenge in aid of Buckinghamshire Disability Service (BuDS).  I set a target of raising £350.  So far I have raised £295.  It would be great if I could reach my target.  I know it will really help BuDS to be able to continue the fantastic work that they do to support disabled people across Buckinghamshire, and indeed, across the country too.
