Are you interested in meeting other disabled people for some refreshments and helping BuDS learn more about what matters to you? You would also have the chance to be part of a BBC news interview if you like (not mandatory).
The Meetup will be held in a private area at the Wendover Woods Cafe near Aylesbury on Tuesday 14th May from 10:30am until approx 2:30pm. The meetup will be on the covered terrace, not indoors, so will be Covid-safer. There is plenty of blue badge parking at the site and a level flat path from the car park to the terrace, which is also accessible. It is is a fairly quiet site and there is a transfer-equipped disabled WC, but no Changing Place. There will be a BSL translator. Please note that there will be dogs on leads in the area.
You’ll be met at the car park by BuDS volunteers and there will be friendly hosts on the terrace to make introductions and help the talk to start. We’ll be asking you about what’s important to you as a disabled person and maybe asking you to do some fun polls. This helps us keep up-to-date with what matters to disabled people.
A BBC reporter will also be there to ask people about the upcoming general election and the issues that are important to you in the election. You don’t have to speak to the reporter or, if you do, you can do so anonymously, without being identified. BuDS hosts will be there to help.
This is an event for disabled people, not for the public in general. Obviously, disabled people can come with family members or carers if they wish.
BuDS will refund car parking fees and arrange the refreshments. We don’t want anyone to not be able to attend because of money worries.
You must pre-book for this free event. Please click on the button below if you are interested in coming to this event. A form will open for you to enter your details. After you have completed this form, we will get in touch with you to arrange all the details.
Numbers at this event are limited and we may not be able to offer a place to everyone who expresses an interest. Please don’t turn up without pre-booking, as we will be unable to admit people without a booking.
