About Fair4All Attitudes and Hate Crimes

Disabled people are sometimes subject to abuse, insults or physical violence because of their disability. The BuDS Fair4All Attitudes and Hate Crime project supports people affected by disability hate, helps them report it to the police if they wish, and campaigns to change attitudes and combat hostility toward disabled people.

If you’ve been affected by disability hate, or you would like to report a disability hate incident, click the logo (above or to the left) to go to our Support & Report Service page. The page also explains more about the Service.

The Fair4All Attitudes & Hate Crime project educates and campaigns to strike at the root of disability hate. More to follow soon.

Getting Involved

BuDS welcomes volunteers to join our Attitudes & Hate Crime project. We are a very friendly and inclusive team. You don’t have to be disabled, but if you are we will make sure you can volunteer effectively with us. Volunteering is currently done remotely from home – we may introduce face to face support in the future. There are lots of different roles, including:

  • Support Service volunteers – talking to people affected by disability hate and supporting them.
  • Report Service volunteers – supporting people affected by disability hate in collaboration with the police and criminal justice agencies.
  • Campaigners – creating information about disability hate, giving talks and presentations, and using media and social media.
  • Behind the scenes – working on databases and admin work.

To find out more about volunteering, please email volunteering@buds.org.uk, leave us a voicemail on 01494 211179, or message BuDS on any social media platform.

If you would like to contact the project volunteers directly, you can do so by emailing AHC@buds.org.uk.
