Would you like to qualify as a professional Enquiries Advisor or as a Carbon Footprint Business Consultant? BuDS is happy to offer two great FREE opportunities for disabled people in Bucks to train for well-paid professional careers. Read on for more.
Climate Change Business Consultant
BuDS is working alongside Buckinghamshire Business First (BBF) to support hospitality, leisure and tourism businesses to recover after problems caused by the impact of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. You can find out more about this Boost programme here: https://bbf.uk.com/boost. Part of this programme is boosting the green credentials of businesses by helping them to reduce their carbon footprint.
BuDS currently have a number of fully funded places for disabled people in Bucks who would like to train as carbon footprint business advisors.
If accepted for a place, you would be offered the chance to undertake a free of charge industry-recognized training programme with the British Standards Institute. This course will provide training in measuring a business’s carbon footprint and providing advice to businesses on how to achieve net-zero accreditation. To make sure that the best candidates are selected, BuDS will be screening applications.
Please note that a salary is not paid during the training process. However, depending on individual circumstances, people claiming state benefits may be able to continue claiming them while training. BuDS will help you arrange this with the DWP if necessary.
To apply or find out more, please e-mail jobs@buds.org.uk or leave a voicemail on 01494 211179.
Enquiries Advisor
Many charities, councils, housing associations and companies employ qualified Enquiry Advisors to help people with information, advice and guidance about issues like accessibility, housing, debt, benefits and consumer rights. BuDS has a small number of fully-funded training places for disabled people in Bucks to qualify as an Enquiry Advisor.
This training would suit any disabled person who is thorough, organised, able to use many sources of information, and interested in helping people with sometimes complicated and difficult issues. Previous experience helping people as an advisor is not needed but might be helpful.
You would join the BuDS Enquiries Team as a part-time volunteer while you are doing the training. We will expect you to put your training to practical use by helping disabled people with their enquiries, as part of the BuDS team, for a period of at least 1 year, part-time. This real-life experience will also help you get the most out of your training. The voluntary work and training would be done remotely from home using BuDS IT systems – there would be no need to come into an office.
Please note that a salary is not paid during the training process – this is a voluntary role with free training. However, depending on individual circumstances, people claiming state benefits may be able to continue claiming them while training. BuDS will help you arrange this with the DWP if necessary.
To apply or find out more, please e-mail volunteering@buds.org.uk or leave a voicemail on 01494 211179.
The training for the Enquiries team would suit anyone who is interested in Information, Advice and Guidance, and in assisting BuDS with the service that we provide. Our work is carried out almost solely by a team of volunteers, so more volunteers are always welcome. The training course will help you gain knowledge and experience in providing information, advice, and guidance. Upon completing the course, you can gain a Level 2 qualification in Information, Advice, and Guidance, which is widely recognised.
We look forward to hearing from you!
