Fair4All EventsMaking outdoor public events more accessible and inclusive for disabled people
BuDS knows that most outdoor events in Buckinghamshire, from country shows to music concerts to Christmas markets, are not properly accessible to most disabled people. Disabled people are being shut out from most outdoor events in Buckinghamshire, and that’s not acceptable, especially here in the home of the Paralympics. Given that one fifth of the population of Bucks has a disability of some sort, that means a huge number of people are deprived of a normal everyday experience – and it’s a huge income loss for event organisers too. Fair4All Events aims to change this and open up local outdoor events to all.
How Fair4All Events Works
BuDS offers FREE advice and support to event organisers to help them make their events more accessible and inclusive. It’s not difficult or costly – it just needs thought and a willingness to change the ways that things are done. We offer free disability awareness training for staff and volunteers and we have free handouts for stall-holders, activity providers and caterers. For larger events, we can even provide the services of our dedicated and trained event volunteer team to support disabled people and staff Blue Badge parking.
BuDS has worked with scores of event organisers including councils, commercial providers and charities on a huge range of events, from small fetes to massive festivals and celebrations. Whatever the event, we will have the insight and experience to help you make your event inclusive and accessible – and get more visitors.

The Fair4All Events Award
The Fair4All Events Award is a new initiative by Buckinghamshire Disability Service (BuDS) to recognise Bucks organisations which consistently demonstrate exceptional commitment to making their events more accessible and inclusive for disabled people. The Award is intended for organisations which ‘go the extra mile’ and achieve really meaningful levels of disabled accessibility and inclusion at their public events.
The first recipient of the Fair4All Events Award is Aylesbury Town Council, awarded in August 2017.
