There are a number of charities and trusts throughout the country which provide grants for disabled people in difficult financial circumstances. Most will have their own strict criteria for providing funds. Hence any one fund may be restricted to helping people with a specified impairment or disability, who are in a defined age group, living in a particular area, or associated with a particular profession. As a general rule, charities and trusts will only pay for things that cannot be paid for by government or local councils.
